    A question for Indian bloggers...

Have your blogs at blogger actually been deleted or you just can't access them?

Blogs are there. Right now we can even edit them. We can go to blogspot.com, login to our account and do the postings.

But we cannot view xyz. blogspot.com

    Subdomains with blogspot are banned.

Truly said, its now for the bloggers to start a campaign so effective as to force the Telecommunication Authority in India to lift the ban on this very service,i am not sure about how people reacted to ban on typepad and geocities but Blogger, yes it is a issue that needs to be taken notice of.

Probably the involvment of print media would do it for you,as Newspapers are very influencive on government decisions and then modifying the decisions in countries like Pakistan and India.

    @Webbie
    The domain Blogspot.com redirects to Blogger.com !
Whereas anyname.blogspot.com is a different syntax which is banned!

Google uses the domain Blogger.com to host all the FAQ, accounts and stuff!
Whereas blogspot.com is used for the blogs and that too specifically the syntax *.blogspot.com (which is banned)

So IMO, your admin is someone oversmart ..lol what ISP are you on ?

I see. So in addition to the new law that bans gambling sites in the US, the government in India is now instructing ISPs to block certain sites. My god, I thought the US and India were democratic countries.....

Of course, I know that is an illusion. What you people are seeing is a systematic attempt by government all over the world to shut down the internet. You see, the same people that control the government in India are the same people who control the US government. I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but oh well.

Everything I talk about has come true. If we don't fight back, the internet as we know it today won't exist in ten years. It is simple as that. The internet is the greatest threat that the governments in the world have ever faced, and ironically enough, it is a tool that was created by the US government, or military.

you can't compare gambling to anything else. gambling is illegal in most states already, by doing it online, you are still in a state where it is illegal. its not really a difficult concept.

If they proceed with the banned, I personally don't see an improvement on information technology future in india. Let hope other country don't take the same action. Whilst the Internet is still usable, we should stated boldly that we can't take intolerant issue regarding the Internet banned.

If they want to banned the Internet, let banned together all the IT facilities and teaching in India.

I have a question, why were the Mumbai blast threads closed?
Going by the logic of freedom of expression, it’s a bad idea to close the threads, isn't? But then we all understand, there are some things which are not in the interest of masses and there was more of hatred in those threads then a fruitful discussion. Similarly, I think Government is in the best position judge that some of the issues may lead to more problems in a crisis situation like this.
It could have happened that there was a large scale riots after the blasts and anti social elements may take advantage of some of these means.
I stay in Mumbai and I know how volatile the situation could have become in such a case.
These are the reasons I think the government might have considered.
By the way, in saying so, I am not advocating the government by any chance and these are my personal views.
