    if the govt think that they can ban porn sites then how will they ban people buying porno movies, instead of using blogs people would makes sites or switch over to wordpress. Then the same "pornography, speeches of hate, contempt, slander or defamation, or if they promote gambling, racism, violence or terrorism". can be done easily again, at that time what would our govt. do?????? :D Bastards

    I think the India government will allow Blogger.com . they simply cant block all of blogger blogs as there are some 10+ blogs propagating hatred. They should find a way to block that particular blog only. Likewise whole of geocities websites are not available. How many good and informative pages are there in geocities.

    PLEASE REMOVE THIS BLANKET BAN.

    wtf...india is not even close to a dictatorship..and why would india be doing this?? did some minority group complain about blogspot or something?? and instead of congress bombing terror camps in hyerabad,kashmir, lucknow, they wnat to BLOCK ALL BLOGSPOT AND WORDPRESS???? HOW IS THIS GONNA STOP ANYTHING, ppl will just re-create their sites using another service, all this does is make it INCONVENIENT for webmasters

    Once the hatred site is taken down will the DoT remove the ban or is it that you guys are simply at their mercy. Why couldn't they just research where the ISP is and block the site that way.

    There is an article in Times of India already, I have talked to some of my blogmaster friends, they are planing to file a PIL against this decision.

    Govt did it without any law/reason and as per Indian Information act, its directly against people's rights to get information and free speech.

    They will be appealing against it by thursday, if nothing's been done by then.
    They already sent an email to the President and PM.
    lets see what happens..

    indian govt. is a big dickhead and underestimating ISI or terrorist. They are more smarter than our govt.

    I think the intention is to try and somewhat cut communication channels or reduce coded messaging of "cells". Instead of open comms i.e. cellular, satellite, landline, they are driving the comm channels into more austere avenues.
