I have a new website which is registered on blogcatalog and other 1-2 blog directories. But they are being indexed before me. It means my first 3-4 sentences will be duplicate content or won't it??? should i delete my registration.

    thanks in advance.

Irritating isnt it? I would not worry too much about it because if you have an rss feed on your site you could spend your whole day tracking these things down. Believe me there are a lot more sites that do this than just blogcatalog.

Personally I dont think the couple sentences matter that much when they link back to the original content as the source for the complete article. If they were republishing the entire article or a substantial portion of the article I would get very concerned and start taking action to shut down the plagiarism.

Such sites can steal off your content unfortunately

Look if there is a plugin that shortens the content of your rss feed to just a couple of words or even deletes it to simply keep the posts titles.

I wouldn't worry too much about it - the same thing could happen if you submitted to social bookmarking sites.

You just have to go about your business and build your site and after six months or so this problem shouldn't arise

I wouldn't worry about the duplicate content.

What you should worry about is making your site stronger so the few terms that appear on both your site an blog catalog, your site gets credit for by google.

they link back to your site, so google knows who wrote the original content. as far as them getting indexed first, as you post more google bots will learn to visit your site more often and eventually you will get indexed just as quickly as they are.

Getting indexed quicker will be your best line of defense (or attack). So, make sure your sitemap is updated daily through some form of automation.

I had an entire article snagged lock stock and barrel. I have not been willing to invest the time to get them to remove it. I'd rather just write a new one.

But the RSS feed... that's a real pain I'm sure!
