Is it a bad idea to make a blog with just videos and little text?
Are there any down sides to this?

    Much appreciated

its not bad, but if you are thinking about doing SEO, maybe will get some problems because of less content.

Check my site www.coolcars.tv. I managed to rank on the first page on Google for my main keyword sometime before even if I have little text. Just don't forget to include your keywords in your posts.

It's actually not blogging, it's vlogging.
And no, it's not as effective for various reasons:
    1. You don't have any specific content on the website that you can rank for, so you can't rely on SEO.
    2. having videos can consume a lot of bandwidth.
    3. You need to have great videos if you want to succeed.
    4. You will not earn much money with AdSense, if that was your plan.

You can upload your videos on Youtube (or just search for some good videos on Youtube) and then just embed them on your site. This way you won't consume any bandwidth, as you will be using Youtube's bandwidth.

Just another blog re-posting You Tube or videos from other video sites has been done to death. I wouldn't do it. It's not very original.

Your best bet is probably trying to get with YouTube's partnership program, but don't expect any crazy revenue too soon. If your channel becomes quite popular you could just build a website around that.

I try to add a video to my site every now and then but I make sure that it is relevant to my nice and is informative in some way. It can be a little more difficult to do SEO this way since there is less content and just a video. You should certainly hook up with youtube to try and make revenue from your videos if you're going to go down this route. Also I think there is another site that offers adbrite on their videos....I think it was megavideo or something. Might want to look into that if this is your plan
