Blog with ads on a business

Just wanted to know the opinions from other people regarding this.

Lets say i wanted to add a blog to my current domain. This domain is used for a web and graphic design company, that i run.

Do you think it would be unprofessional to have a sub domain, something like www.blog.mydomain.com providing articles and tutorials on design, web development and coding. On the blog contained a google ad.
The main website would not have a link to this blog.

The reason i ask this is a can gain quite a few visitors to this blog, which would increase PR, give more sales and add a small bit of income on the side with Google.

In my opinion google advertisements on a company website is unprofessional but on a blog using a subdomain of the original sounds alright.

    What are your views?

    Thanks

I wouldnt go overboard with the ads. You don't want to be sending traffic to any of your competitors that may be advertising on the content network do you?

Plus, you always want to have a very specific call to action. Since this is your company blog, that call to action should be to contact you about your services, not to click on an ad and go away forever.

IMO, cool it with the ads and keep your blog as focused as possible.

It is not so much a business blog, but more so just a small project that would help to increase link popularity, page rank etc. Containing information about the industry along with a few tutorials here and there.
As i said the main website would not even link to the blog.

I do have another domain that i was going to run this on, but had the thought it may be wiser to run it on the same domain as the original business one, to help grow the link and bump it up higher.

    Thank you for the input.

    Don't do that.
It will make your potential client feel that you are desperate for $$ that why setting up sub domain blog to earn from adsense.
Why don't you buy another domain and host the tutorial site?

Never put any ads on a domains that is used to host a business website. It causes a bad impression on your potential buyers. They may think that your business revenue is less. Hence, may think to look for another company.
