I do blogging regularly and even google recognized it by placing the posts in top SERPs. But after posting a good number of articles (>60) in it, I did changed the url format of wordpress blog from the default to a new format .../?p=k to ..../%category%/%postname%/ This was done to gain SEO benefit, but infact, after that my blog posts are not even getting indexed. This is happening only with Google. Both MSN and Yahoo has recognized the changes, but still google is not recognizing it. Daily I'm submitting the sitemap to Google, even then it does not index it. Could anybody help me in this regard. The blog is http://www.onlinedownloads.org/diary/ for your reference.
It will take some time for google to index your links . Can you tell me when did you change the url from ?p= to full format
u should have redirected old links to new ones without directly changing by using permalink redirection plugin for wordpress YOu still have time first 10 results show your new URL and if u haven't redirected do it now.. If you have redirected Google is slow wait for a day..seems u have used redirection..
I strongly recommend the wordpress sitemaps tool: http://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/ Submit your sitemap to Google, and the Webmaster Tool they provide (where you submit the sitemap) gives you the change to remove URLs from the index. Should only take a couple of days to fix using that. Dan
It is almost 2 months I did changed the url format. Moreover I'm regularly submitting the sitemap using the wordpress plugin and the same in the webmaster tool. How should I redirect the old links? I did observed that the old links are being redirected to the new one without my intervention. But what is worrying me is that the new posts are not getting indxed. Google did even updated its Page Rank too...from PR0 to PR3.
Have you checked for errors with the webmaster tools? Something like this might help: http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/redirection/
Redirecting the old urls with the wordpress plugin is suggested, thus, I've uploaded the Permalink Redirect wordpress plugin Scott Yang. But unable to understand in using it. After uploading the plugin, I've activated that. There are some fields...how should i fill it up. Permalink Redirect Manager Paths to be skipped Separate each entry with a new line. Matched with regular expression. Path pairs to redirect from and to Separate each entry with a new line. Each line is [from]<spaces>[to]. Old Permalink Structure: Available tags. Current permalink structure: /%category%/%postname%/ FeedBurner Redirect: http:/// Hostname Redirect: Redirect if hostname is not www.onlinedownloads.org Could anyone explain me what to fill?
I change my URL structure with no problem using this wordpress plugin. And I have a tutorial blog post that share my experience here: Migrate Wordpress Permalink URL structure Hope this help.
Thank a lot Ken! I've uploaded it. In our admin -options- Permalinks Migration - I've filled the Basic OptionsOld Permalink Structure:: /?p=123 should I fill it with /?p=123 or /?p=K ...could you give the exact info. Regarding the new format..i've made it to /%category%/postname%/ long back. Anything else apart from it. When will google index the new url format? Please do help me in this regard.
For option->permalink migrate You should fill up the : /?p=%post_id% Then, you can key in the new format in option->parmalink: /%category%/%postname%/ But I think /%category%/%postname%/ is a bad choice. It's will limit your blog post when you need to change the post category, so I suggest using : /%postname%-%post_id% for best SEO result you can check your indexed page in google using: site:http://www.yourdomain.com It's will list down all the your index page in google search engine, click on the link to see whether it's will redirect/cloak and display the page.
oh if you have make /%category%/%postname%/ long back, then stick to it now. (check google commend site: http://www.yourdomain.com ) You can still change it after six months later. Use this plugin to do the the migration again.
This is the message I'm getting when i clicked the indexed links. Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/onlinedo/public_html/diary/wp-includes/classes.php on line 95 Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/onlinedo/public_html/diary/wp-includes/classes.php on line 96 Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/onlinedo/public_html/diary/wp-includes/classes.php on line 95 Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/onlinedo/public_html/diary/wp-includes/classes.php on line 96 Why is it not redirected.?
When I kept this back "For option->permalink migrate You should fill up the : /?p=123 " The site is ok now. Which is correct ? /?p=123 or /?p=%post_id% Or should I keep /?p=N Earlier my url format was by default Default something like http://www.onlinedownloads.org/diary/?p=123 Hello Ken! Could you guide me? The old url is not redirected to the new one. It stays like that showing the old one itself.
Hello Ken! I've uploaded the Permalink Redirect WordPress Plugin and it did work. The old urls are being redirected to the new format. But how to make Google index the new posts? From the last 2 1/2 months, not even a single post is indexed by Google. However, yahoo and msn is indexing it. What should i do? Daily I'm submitting the sitemaps for Google, but still not fruitful.
I'm happy that google recognized my blog new url. But I'm puzzled why it recognized only 4 posts. Any reasons for it?
