Posting in relevant forums tends to bring high quality traffic for me. Commenting on relevant blogs, submitting your blog to niche specific directories and article submissions work too. Social bookmarking sites and general blog directories bring more traffic, but the traffic from those sources seems to be of a lower quality.

I think this is a bit broad for a question. There are hundreds of ways to bring traffic to your website. Perhaps you should ask something a little more detailed, such as "How can I build strong backlinks?", or "How should I use Articles for Backlinks?" In order to provide some useful content to my post, I will explain a little about both of those questions, in hopes you will find a question to ask afterwards. 1: Creating strong backlinks: Using FireFox and the SEOQuake plugin, finding places to put high PR backlinks can be a simple task. Go to Google and at the top click Settings >> Search Settings. Scroll down a little till you find a pull down menu with 10 in it. Change that to 100 and save your settings at the bottom. Now, search Google for keywords related to your Niche. Once the results are found, click the Discussion or Blog button on the left sidebar (You may have to click More to see them). Once you have done this, use SEOQuake to get the PR of those top 100 websites, and order them by PR. Look for sites that are Inner pages with a PR of 3 or higher and visit those pages. Read through the post and leave a comment that is relevant to what that site was about. (You don't want to be spamming, as that will hurt your traffic. This is the hardest part of Blog comment Backlinking). Once you have left a comment, copy the web address to a notepad file and repeat the process. After 24-48 hours, go back to each of those websites (using your notepad list) to see if your comment has been added or declined. If it has been added, ping the URL with Pingler, ping-o-matic, or another Ping service. This will help the spiders find the link back to your website. 2: Articles for Traffic: Whenever you write an article, or have an article written (that you have 100% rights to), you should post it on your own website first, and get it indexed by the search engines. Once your article is indexed, you will want to Syndicate it by posting it on Article Directories. Before posting your article, write out a short paragraph or two that will go into your Author Bio box. Now, go to Google and type in "Article Directory List" and find a list that marks the PR Rating. Sign up for 5 or more of the highest directories, and post your article with the Author Bio (which should include links back to your website BUT, not to the same article on your website). To get accepted by directories the fastest, be sure to include the same Author name that you used on your website. If you do not, they may reject it on the grounds that you are trying to steal someones work. Myth: Duplicate Content is having the same article on many directories. Fact: Duplicate Content is having the same Article multiple times on a single domain. The reason I tell you to put the article on your website first, and not on the directories is simple. The search engines will give authority (And thus the best ranking) to the first website they find with the article. This means, if you post the article to a directory first, you are giving them authority of your work. If you then place the article on your own website, the directories will rank higher than you, thus giving your website less strength/PR. An Extra Tip... To strengthen your backlinks, keep lists of URL's that have links to your websites (Blog comments, Article Directories, Etc). Use that list to create a custom RSS Feed using the html2rss website. Then ping the RSS feed, and post it to RSS Directories. This will lead more people, and more spiders to your content, which in turn will increase your traffic. I hope this helps. Good luck
