I started my blog just last week, La-Nuestra.co.uk. Its essentially a football (soccer) blog that features both historical analysis and contemporary issues and events. What I'm asking is what realistic targets should I set for my blog in terms of traffic? I certainly know not to expect 10,000 unique hits in the first month, ha, but what would be a reasonable performance? And any tips on advertising would be great! I have already joined such sites as blogcatalog and blogged.com, and I post on a few forums with the link in my signature. I've also submitted to around 20 search engines and I am trying to build up some good link exchanges with similar blogs. I'm not doing this purely for the money/promotion side of things as I have a genuine interest in the game but seeing as i'm on a gap year I would like to make a bit of cash from it, obviously not right away, but in the long term. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Alasdair
HI, You can also give your ads in local classified ads. There are lot's of free as well as paid classified directories are available.
Just because I searched it, I thought good to share it with you, alasdairsim, for your easy access - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=17574113
Also add the blog to your profile here on DP, then post new posts and threads 10-20 times a day, this will get you traffic from the link to your blog in every post you make
First, make sure you have something like google analytics installed on your site so you can directly measure the traffic. After that, you want to watch for steady growth. I would think that anywhere from 3% growth and up every 30 days is a good number. But of course the higher the growth, the better. At least 3% - 5% growth every month is fine. Its going to take at least 2 - 3 months to get a base line to go by. So do not expect instant results. Use that time to build content, backlinks and go from there.
