In this article, we'll be discussing some traffic techniques you can implement in your blog to generate more visitors to your weblog, especially if you are a newbie. Before heading that, I strongly recommend you have some content in place. Preferably ten pillar articles. If you head out and drive visitors to your blog and when they reach to your blog and they don’t find anything compelling, you’ll only waste your time marketing your blog. If you haven’t wrote at least 10 pillar article, go back and do it. If the content are in place, congratulate yourself and let’s move on building traffic to your site. While building traffic, your goal is to form relationships and demonstrate your value. Use easy traffic techniques to build small communication channels and up to the point when you gain access to larger communication channels. For example, use your best content to drive traffic. Once other bloggers find that you have convincing content worthy of attention, other bloggers and people will recommend it naturally. Viral marketing will start to take over. You just have to work hard, initially, to get to that point. Listed below are some surefire traffic tactics that are easy for new bloggers to begin with. These techniques will get you to your first hundred readers. 1) Comment Marketing It’s no rocket science, and yes, leaving comments on other blogs works. I’ve already discussed smarter ways to leave comments (add value, focus on a few highly targeted blogs), now all you have to do it to get out there and do it. Make a routine and stick to it. Before you head out for bed each night, when you’re not in a mood to write pillar articles for your blog, leave at least 10 comments on a handful of related blogs. It’s worth forming a routine like this because consistency matters! 2) Forum Marketing Just like commenting, a few value-adding contributions to relevant forums with links back to your blog in your signature will bring back visitors to your blog. Again, the more time and energy you spend on building credible profile in a forum, the more traffic you will sent to your blog. I received my first significant traffic sources from posting articles to three significant popular forums related to my blog’s topic. For example, I wrote a solid article about article marketing, with references to my blog, and instead of posting it to my blog, I posted them in three forums. Consequently a discussion ensued in each forum after my article was published and a lot of people clicked through to see my blog. 3) Trackback MarketingThis technique isn’t nearly as good as it once was, however, it stills brings a little traffic to my blog. Send trackbacks to articles on other blogs whenever feasible in your own blog writing. Trackbacks are placed below the comment area following a blog topic and if you can be one of the first to trackback on a hot post on a popular blog, some of the traffic will drip to your blog as people look for more discussion of the hot topic. You also get the attention of the blog author when you send trackbacks. If you don’t know what trackback is, read a comprehensive blog about how to send trackbacks in my blog. Otherwise, visit Google search and type ‘how to send trackbacks’. 4) Blog Carnivals During early days of your blog, you’ll become more successful as you submit my pillar articles to different blog carnivals. A Blog carnival is a post that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers. You can also find a great list of blog carnivals at http://www.blogcarnival.com. You can also submit your articles to carnivals from this site. Just be sure to pick carnivals relevant to your blog topic and submit the best article if you want the most traffic. Well, there are other techniques I could list for you to implement, but let’s face it, even though you probably know most of them, you haven’t spent concentrated time implementing any of the techniques often enough to get significant results. Don’t overload yourself with ideas. Just go out and implement the above techniques and do them often enough to experience real rewards. This is all about concentrated efforts. Spending your time working a few techniques everyday will reward you with better results than doing every techniques you can just once in a while.1.Go out every day and leave comments on complimentary blogs 2.Contribute to 1-3 top forums every day – post pull-sized articles if you can. 3.Every time you write a new blog article trackback other blogs 4.Submit your best stuff to blog carnivals REGULARLY 5.During the first six month’s of blogging just focus on writing great content and implement the above basic marketing strategies. My commitment is to do them everyday of my blog’s early life. What’s yours? You can also substitute these techniques for any other ideas you have – blog link exchange, content exchanges, writing guest articles for other bloggers, myspace.com marketing, blogcatalog.com, mybloglog.com marketing, social media marketing or article marketing – the important thing is to do something often enough to get results.
