My blog has been spam by bots since long ago, and these few days - the spams gone strange. Instead of using his own website on the "URL" field, he use Google's URL. What's the point of doing this? Any idea?
He's testing parametes and seeing what lands in Akismet. If he uses his own URL, he'll get banned. I got 14,900 spams yesterday in one blog
Yes, same here... very annoying. All of them land in the Akismet so its no big problem.. But he / she / it is testig if the url is postet in the blog or not. Every Post has got a different Name. Hers what came in the last few minutes: IeriWinner_59 IP: 212.24.48.96 IeriWinner_55 IP: 212.24.48.106 IeriWinner_97 IP: 212.24.48.88 IeriWinner_6 IP: 212.24.48.93 ... .. .. All IPs are from a proxy server in Russia... Someone seems to be very bored and neds something to do....
Yep, every once in awhile there will be a very legit looking spam posted. Since Akismet works as a social spam blocker, if enough people indicate that it was not spam...he's out of the auto block, for a little while anyways.
Even i recived spammers from russia on my forum.. yesterday it took me around an hour to remove them..
i have blog that get almost about 100+ of spam. But lucky that Akismet reduce some of it. I noticed that out of 100 blogs, there are our 99 blogs that sure will get spam. Wonder there any good thing and bad thing will happen..
Yeah the russians are getting smarter and smarter. They even sell a bot spam for about 500$ if I am not mistaken, bot that will spam: forums, guestbooks, blogs and everything else that he can !! It's not easy at all. I have installed a math_spam protection. Nothing gets in.
I was hit yesterday with about 150 spams...my blog has been up for 3 monts and only got the odd one since i started so ya the russians must have put together a new blog spammer..... all were caught but still is a pain in the ass, is there a better program out there for blocking or is the askimet default one for wordpress the best???
Make a search in google for e.g ( IeriWinner_59 ) . I get Results 1 - 10 of about 644 for IeriWinner_59 . (0.07 seconds) So he/she/It was successful
Sometimes spammers don't spam for money - they do it for the same reasons that virus writers write a virus - they like to sit back and see what happens. I think whoever is behind this is trying to get Akismet to ban google, or something equally bizarre!
btw, I also have been hit by this person on one particular blog - I even allowed the first post as I didn't realise it was spam, until I got hit another 200 times!
