Is it possible to build backlinks to your main site by creating and posting to blogs like vox.com and wordpress.com? To get some backlinks to my website I started by posting articles through ezine, PrLog and Hubpages and this seems to be working fairly well and are all listed in my google webmaster tools. However, after that worked I decided to start two blogs, Vox.com and Wordpress, in an attempt to get more links by writing and posting product reviews, articles ect …. It worked at first but today I checked my inbound links in Google webmaster and all the vox.com and wordpress.com links have been dropped. What am I doing wrong / is this considered spaming.

It's possible that Google has started to discount these links due to the sheer volume of people that are using the web 2.0 sites for backlinks. While your backlinks might be decreasing (even if temporarily), your SERPs can still increase. And depending on the content that you are posting, one or more sites might consider it spam. But, then again, if you look at all content sites like Wordpress.com or Vox.com or whatever, they encourage you to post content (it's how they make their money). So, I guess it's kind of a fine line.
