This seems like the most appropriate place for this topic even though it is not solely about PPC. Let's discus our experience with different revenue systems for websites. I'll start: Adsense Adsense need no real introduction, but let me do that for the super-noobs out there: Adsense is how Google makes all their money. It displays ads on your website either in graphical or text form and you get paid only when someone clicks on the ad. How much you get paid depends on how many visitors you get to your site as well as what kind of site you have (this will influence the types of keywords that show up on your site; some keywords are worth a lot more than others). I have a lot of experience with Adsense and have found that although it is the most prevalent revenue source for websites, it is usually not the highest paying one. It makes for a good second or third income source if your primary one is not pulling in enough money. Text-Link-Ads Text-Link-Ads displays simple text ads on your website. You can have them on every page or just one page (e.g., your homepage). You get paid depending on how many visitors you get to your site and most people use it for SEO (really called SEM) purposes. Currently, Text-Link-Ads is the revenue source that is making me the most money. It is simple to use and requires no involvement on your part after you first set it up. Though, you may wish to approve each ad sales individually, as it is also an option. Text-Link-Ads also gives you the ability to have private sales. PayPerPost PayPerPost lets you get paid to post a sponsored review on your blog. Some advertisers require you to do only positive reviews, but you can be like me and ignore those. PayPerPost allows you to sell private sponsored reviews through their system (I believe they make half). They pay you based on you Google page rank, Alex rank, and based on previous customers' reviews on your review. PayPerPost seems to be one of the biggest and highest paying sponsored review services. If you do not have a high PR though, you may want to stay away as most advertisers look at primary that and you will not get a lot of money. Okay now your turn. Please give a review of any services you have used and want to tell us about. Mention service name, a brief description, your experience with them, who it's for, and what they base your revenue on.
Adsense and pay per post are 2 of the best ones. Affiliate links also pay very well if they are related to topics.
If you want to get your PR dropped to 0, go ahead and use payperpost. TLA, well, your PR will fall, but gradually..not in one stroke like in the case of payperpost. Adsense..hmm, decreasing revenues..but what to do. Google wont let us sell links...
You can make more money by knowing your readers a bit better and serving better ads... My website (http://www.aselabs.com) isn't a "blog" but using Adsense on that yielded little compared to using ASE Adnet (www.ase.cc). It is all about how your site using its content to your advantage.
Can you explain why your PR will get dropped if you use PayPerPost? There is no way to know it is a sponsored review, right?
I'm using many revenue streams on my blogs. Some are Google adsense, text link ads, bidvertiser, Oxado, Payperpost etc
Earning revenues from blog are very easy process all you need is to choose some great sources and which offers the strong payment channel like: paypal or via cheques. I have used adsense which is great way to earn money but deleted my account unfortunetely..
Would anyone here mind giving a more extensive review of some revenue sources not yet fully described, e.g., bidvertiser, Oxado? I have pretty much only tried the three I talked about in the first post (and Amazon, but I hate Amazon). But @jamesbrook: I strongly disagree that Adsense is the best (not to start a who's-the-best war or anything, just saying).
Ask John Chow what happens when you use Text Link Ads. Google will kick you in the butt and you lose all your organic traffic. That's why John Chow can't even get on the 1st page off Google for his own name. That's all thanks to Text Link Ads.
Hum... I lost my PR as well. Is it just due to TLA? This had been bothering me for a while. Is it possible to get my PR back if I get rid of TLA or is it possible to use TLA in a different way as to not damage my PR? I had been using TLA for months without any problems... TLA is so good. Don't make me switch, Google!
Yes its mainly because of Text Link Ads and Sponsored Reviews. You will lose all your pageranks with either/both of them and thats a fact. Come on! It's logical and obvious too.... you are selling Links! D'oh man!
