    Would a Mod please close http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1851599 ?
I would like to add a little more from this and just keep the title "Blog Questions". The previous title on that thread was a little confusing to read most likely.

    A. Does anyone use general blogs to just post up their thoughts generally over whatever they feel will help their reader? I recently made a wordpress blog and well the plan, as of now, is to simply throw down some quality writing every now and then. While it IS pretty general in all honesty, I want to have a motivational theme to what I write to get the reader to start thinking and improving themselves daily. That's what I want to aim for, but what are the cons of not specifying an exact niche? Or is this 'Self Improvement' a niche all on its own?

    B. And I didn't buy a domain particularly with wordpress. I'm using the free version without web hosting services. How much does having that domain name help out?

    C. Do people make a central blog for general postings and then several other blogs that focus on niches to link back to the central blog? Does this help at all?

    Thanks for any responses.

And here's the blog URL, I have only one official post, you can check it out I guess.

Here's my take on these ...

    A. It qualifies as Self Improvement as far as I'm concerned.

    B. Having your own domain makes it look more professional and, of course, you can monetise the blog which I believe you can't do with the free version.

    C. You can indeed create a blog network. I have done that in the past. It can be a bit of a headache keeping your Blogs up-to-date when they get above 20 or so. Personally, I would favour getting 1 Blog running well, generating traffic and monetising some of it before you go on to creating a 2nd.

    And good luck,

    Will :)

    A. It is certainly okay for you to blog without any particular niche but if you are aiming at making money then you should definitely carve out a niche

    B. having your own domain is always good. You can always customize it the way you want your blog to look like. Think of it as an investment and you are building your own foundation. Having your own foundation, means you are always adding value to your own property... not someone elses...

    C. Please make sure you understand the amount of time you have on your hand to do all of this. It is actually easy to build one blog and maintain it but having multiple blogs means, you are constantly dropping the ball on a few... hence it is better to build one at a time and make sure you are adding fresh content...

I've covered all of this in my recent eBook that I've released two days ago for free on my blog. Check it out using my sig. It covers blogging from A to Z... hope all of this helps you. Wish you all the best.

Since I did plan to monetize it, I went ahead and bought a domain for myself, thank you waedwards and cmorley for your responses! And I went ahead and downloaded your ebook cmorley and will be checking it out soon, thank you to you again.

Are there any books you recommend such as html I should read up on a lil bit to understand the coding of web sites? I plan to apply wordpress to my new site after I get some hosting for it, but I also heard some problems can come up and knowing how to fix these glitches will help out alot. Any suggestions?

AND what were the 3 ever lasting niches again? I remember medical, money/business, what was the third?
