I have a question about this blog stuff. Not sure if this is the right spot for this question. I have seen some blogs where people have copied it all from another blogs/news/something else, and provied a backlink to that site, where they copied that. Is it legal to do that? or how does this work. Just woundring about this, since i have been thinking about making a blog my self. Fink
There are also blogsites that have a group of "members" which share their related blogs to one big blogsite to get some additional traffic...
As long as you quote a small part e.g. paragraph and give credit to the author with a backlink it is ok. Copying a whole article is wrong or quoting a paragraph without credit is bad.
Actually you can re-post what they provide in their feed. If they provide a partial syndicated feed, then you can re-publish that, if it is a full, you can republish that. There also is technically no reason to have to post a link back. Attribution is all that is really required. However it is common courtesy to provide at least one link back.
This is 100% false. Republishing someones full content with a link or not is copyright infringement unless they gave you permission to repost. Simply having a feed available does not make it fair game for you to steal. The odds of someone suing you are slim but it does happen and they will win every single time. The reason you can post the partial post is it is covered under fair use if you have a link to the full article. I'm not sure where you got your advice from about using feeds however you want but I'd suggest asking a lawyer next time. Cheers.
Really could you point me to those cases you are talking of. The ones where someone takes a syndicated feed and republishes it then gets sued and lost "every single time". Thanks
If I were you I'd start by reading copyright law. These cases hardly ever go to court because the expenses outweigh the reward. Usually a notice is sent to remove the content and sometimes a cheaper payoff is organized outside of the courtroom. You are very naive if you assume that a feed makes content legal to steal because that is exactly what you are doing. Fair Use doesn't even come close to covering what you suggest.
Copying is 100% illegal. Most of the people who blog write their own content, or take it from free content resources, or quote news IT
