You can get good backlinks if you make use of post's tagging, and submit your blog to Mybloglog and Technorati.

Mybloglog is the best choice for several reasons, one of them is visitors and the other is do follow links to your blog posts :)

generalization of killing social bookmarking_ and all the other blog directory submission work...... I admit many strategies and processes to dominate Yahoo and MSN search engine..... blog domination domination of bloggers... all multilevel marketers use social bookmarks strategies to enhance their blogs.....

I agree, you should submit to blog directories.
You should also comment on blogs.
    hope it helps.

The problem with Yahoo answers (and I have gotten some good traffic from there as well) is it really depends on what you are promoting and how.
If you are blogging for adsense and you just want traffic to click ads, then most all traffic is good, but if you are running affiliate products or a store front, Yahoo Answers traffic sucks for a lot of niches, because it's mostly kids....You only need to look around at most of the entertainment and music topics to see that, and kids don't have CC's, and are most likely to get music and software from illegal download sites.

On the other hand, tech, computers, cameras, cooking and such seem to be more adult oriented. I usually answer questions that are from adults (and you can tell most of the time), because they are more likely to have adults read through them. Leave the questions from kids alone.

Yep. What works for me in one niche, is worthless in another. I will say this...unless you are promoting webmaster products, blogging tips, and something similar...sites like My Blog Log are a waste of time. You will never convert any sales targeting webmasters and bloggers for traffic...all they are doing is trying to get traffic themselves and they don't buy. It's "Look-e-loo" traffic.

I basically tried blog commenting and directory submissions.

Yet to try yahoo answers and article submissions, will give them a hand soon.

You can try link building to improve your site's link popularity. You can do this either way, naturally or artificially :D
The better ranking you get (google's listing) better exposure you get. If you want your site to rank in top 10 places, you need to learn SEO or give that work to a person who knows SEO.

If you want to submit articles in web directories....Use a tool called power article rewriter. It can generate nearly 100 unique article which you can submit in the web directories.
