[Blog Progress] - From Day1 - DP helped :)

After reading DP for a week, I thought, why not give it a shot? So I started off with my blog "Yesterday" related to Blizzard's popular game, Warcraft!

    war3zone.blogspot.com

I'm not sure how I did on the first day (posting a graph) - I got one the first page of google though for couple of my keywords. and had like 23 organic hits from there.

Just want to say thanks to DP for giving me some tips on how to start off as a new bie :) - hoping that I'll learn more and join the track!

    Cheers
    Moin

Good traffic but bad conversion (people clicking other pages) would come well from StumbleUpon. If you want a high number of visits but bad page/visit, stumble your own post and head on over to the freebie section to find stumble exchanges.

    Ty for the tip!

On a note: I have not put any kind of Ads there, want to test the waters first before I go for the fish ;)

Good choice. Read a bit on doshdosh.com and problogger.net for some tips on ad placement and such.

I have seen suggestions for holding back on ads until there are 100 readers daily on a consistent basis, but it's all your choice

With blog post the traffic comes quick but it doesn't last. If you stop posting a few days you'll lose most of the organic traffic.

I'd say go for the ads as soon as possible.

I made the biggest regret of not monetizing my sites until they were very established. The results in retrospect was that when I get a traffic spike or a massive consistent increase - I wasn't ready with the ads to make the most of it! Get your ads on asap is my advice :)

Thanks, I'm checking out the sites you've mentioned!

Oh, I've planned to post atleast something between 5 to 10 posts a day with good content. thanks for the heads up!

Are you sure? don't you think the blog will be a bit messy if I start it right away?

Make sure your content far outweights the ads. If you are posting 5 - 10 a day, then 10 posts will far outweight a few ads on the site. You'll actually see some blogs without ads and sometimes they seem a little unprofessional and untrustworthy - because nothing is invested into them! Thats not a hard and fast rule, so there's no need to refute it :p

It shouldn't look messy if you set the colours right. It's so easy with blogspot too! Just as long as you have 5-10 posts up, and you don't make it awkward to read because of the ad placement, you'll be fine! :)

Thanks for the tips :) - I'll do it

I've registered on Stumbleupon though, submitted in google/yahoo directories / digged it!

1 Question though, how do I add Keywords in this blog?

    What's the next step? :)

By Keywords, do you mean Meta-Tags? If so, I think that needs to be done by editing the template.

It's great you've gotten involved in the social sites so quickly! Now head over to the freebies section and give and get some diggs and stumbles! :)

Ty all, I registered stumble, downloaded the toolbar.. I'll post the link soon.. I was checking google analytics! Traffic went down a bit but the keywords went up! I did a keyword experiment and to my surprise
Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 107,000 - I got on the first page and on #1 link! and another keyword from Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 636,000 got on the first page too @ #9

Will post some more soon! and keeping my eye out for the great tips I'm getting here.

You don't have to. It will help in that you have more control over your blog but you'll also have to convert from Blogger to Wordpress or another blog format and you'll also have to put more work into it I guess - Blogger's pretty simple.

True!! But I think blogger has a edge as it's google's own!

Secondly, Right now; I'm experimenting all the seo stuff I'm learning from dp + other sources like a book from Aaron Wall (Had a chit chat with that guy on gtalk) + couple of guys who already are in this!!

Going to get couple of domains soon.. :)

In that case, I'd recommend you stick with Blogger.
