Hi guys, I wanted to know, should i use one pinging service or more than one in wordpress? What is the wise limit to use? And what are the good pinging services.
It's fine if if you use some good ones llikes pingomatic, technorati pingoat etc! And there's no such limit as a little did I know!
You should have a section where you can list of the sites that you want Wordpress to ping if your Wordpress is self-hosted. The ping list I used is here.
My question is still there, how much ping services lists we should/can use per blog or only one service will do?
I'm don't think it counts for much... Take Technorati... it will update you site once a week regardless of pinging... but if you ping everytime you update it should update in line.... but even then you need you own unique pinging URL... I don't think it counts as much as what it used to... Still, doesn't hurt or cost time to do it...
Register your feed with FeedBurner and use their "Pingshot" service. It automatically pings to several pinging services when you make a post. Some more update services are listed here.
This one's a good one, however, restrain yourself from using anything else than the standard ping list found in Wordpress before your blog becomes somewhat more famous/popular.. I pasted once the whole ping list found at WP's codex, and got my brand new blog almost immediately banned for link spam.. xD
maybe the reason might be to add the same servers excessively. I mean wordpress by defauld ping some ping services, so does feedburner and othjers. so it is better to use just one ping server to ping one service, I guess. I try to do my best to send my blog only once to one serviÅŸce so I dont use different services to ping the same site... maybe it helps? huh?
Two things I do with my word press blogs. First is when I set the pinging solutions, I click on the link that is in wordpress for the 'updated ping hosts' and then i copy all the active ones and go back and paste them and save it. Then! I use pingoat to ping specific pages that I really want to get exposed. Yes there are usually a double ping, but I do it within a 48 hour period of each other. this helps (in my mind) to assure that my pages are getting the proper exposure I am working for. Also, I 'NEVER' set pingback urls until I am done customizing my blog and testing things out. I dont want se's to be picking up things like 'test' when I am using certain plugins like the php enabling.! Just my two cents and as far as results! Phenominal! I can get a brand new blog topping google and stay there inside of two weeks doing it this way.
Feedburner pings couple of services for sure but there are many more around... just be carefull not to ping the same service using diiferent ping services and try your best at maximum...
