blog pinging question

    Would someone tell me if my blogger blogspot blog is pinged automaticly. If not then how often should I ping my blog?

    The same question for typepad

    I'm not sure about Typepad, but pingomatic (or pingoat, one of the two) is notified after new posts are added unless you change the settings.

    You should only ping your blog when you make updates / changes. If you ping too often, certain ping sites will throw an error (maybe even ban you eventually, not sure). Personally, if I were going to add a bunch of new posts, I would wait at least an hour in between pings, regardless of how much content I added. However, I manually ping my sites instead of using the auto-ping feature just so I have more control.

    Wordpress only pings at ping o matic, but there are numerous ping services that you could be submitting your blog to. Do a search for a "list of blog ping services".

    The purpose of a ping is to alert various search engines of updates to your site, so your blog get's indexed faster.
