Blog would be a better option if the idea is to make money. You'd find numerous ways to monetize your blog.
Rent: Ridiculous Food: Bottled Water and Couscous... Flowers, chocolate, dinner, movies, personal items, jewelery.... The math does not work out in your favor, bro... Blog, definitely. If you get a good niche going, you could have a blog with a forum. But the blog needs to be the framework for your plan...along with a good, long, hard look at your budget...

I suggest you don't do any of those options. Do little jobs for people. If you are on these forums most of the day you can find little jobs for $2-10. If you work really hard you can earn this money in a month.
I would also go with a blog. Forums can be more complicated and are usually associated with a pre-existing product or community. One thing to do might be to start as a blog, build your community, and then move to a forum. Good luck, Jim

since i do blogs and have never done a forum, i'd say start with a blog. its hard getting people to join a forum and start posting.
