Blog or Forum

Hey there guys, I know theres a difference between the two.. but I need to express my opinion and also allow the user to do his.

Its for a muslim religion site.
I will be printing out flyers and posting in local places of worship.

My budget is about $50 a month.

So whats easier? Should I try developing a forum or have a simple blog?

 

in my recent project I have articles, a forum, a blog and a newsletter and it all cost $0 to set up (except $8 for domain and $5 for hosting). Read around on these forums and you will quickly get the hang of things.

 

Yeah, you could easily set up both with that budget.

Any tips on how to market the forum

 

Obviously, you can market it on your blog. The flyers would be a great idea, as everyone who attends the mosques will see them and most likely be interested, since its directly related.

 

Personally, I think you would have better luck with the blog, but having both is a great idea and can easily be accomplished with your budget. Flyers will be good in order to gain some activity. Try to participate in some link exchanges as well, those should help.

 

A forum. Religion can be discussed so much, so a forum would work best. As far as marking a Muslim site, maybe talk to people around you who are Muslim and pass around papers. Good luck.

 

Whatever you choose it is best to use your budget on advertising it.

 

Kick off the blog and the forum should get going but still promote it.

 

My advice is get a blog and point a link to ummah.com/forum.

I network there and its beautiful. btw ummah.com/forum is the largest Islamic forum online.
