I have a blog which at first I was just doing for fun, a couple of days ago I found out that it ranks well in Google and it has been getting some visitors and there actually discussions in forums and such about my blog...But I still have 0 comments on the blog itself, you know where members leave comments... Can somebody tell me how i can market a blog...i reall dont know much about marketing a blog since I dont really think of it as a business... Any suggestions...
congratulations on doing so well. Some ideas: add your blog feed to your DP profile! Read the blogging posts at DP There are forums and directories specifically for bloggers and they are a good way to drum up interest and back links for your blog. Consider the blog explosion type tools but personally I don't think they're good. If your blog is technical submit some posts to sites like digg.com
In the early days of my web experience there was a thing called Stumble where you would agree to view websites and acrue points, the more points you got, the more your sites would then be viewed. Today there are any number of sites offering this for blogs. However when I've been viewing sites with them I find I rarely find sites that interest me even though I've selected the categories they will come from I rarely view more than the front page they are hard to bookmark to return to I'm not inclined to click on the ads as I'm more interested in seeing the next site in the list and earning points - ads will take me off on a tangent So, while I'd like my site to be viewed by more people, I'm not sure that type of traffic will actually do me any good.
I got the same problem! No comments at www.DnJungle.com, anyway It will be sold in some days! It gets tons of traffic but no comments! Only 24 comments ...
I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but I wrote an article on marketing with blogs, rss and tags a while back. The URL is pretty long so I shortened it with tinyurl.com for your convenience: http://tinyurl.com/c2xcx Hope that helps a little at least. EGM
Not a bad article, I wouldn't use tinyurl though. It automatically makes people associate your site with spam even if it's not. here is a live link to your article: Blog Marketing Mike
Blogs are the best way to advertise in my opinion. They're simple and easy to setup with little to no costs, and often yield high traffic.
You actually devalue the info you give by using the tinyurl. Forums can handle long urls, humans can handle long urls. TinyURL is so unnecessary. I had to laugh at the blog name, and it is good, but I was looking through my cellphone list and came upon "ICE - Andy" and had to remember the ICE campaign from earlier in the year. But I digress & Mike will tell me off
I didn't realize that tinyurl had gotten such a bad rap. I use it frequently in personal e-mails because of the wrapping problem that breaks links. I'm new to this forum and didn't take the time to learn how to make a true anchor link. Of course, I see it now right on the tool bar above the entry box. Thanks for the assist! EGM
In emails it's OK - and valid for the reasons you mention - but don't use them anywhere else and don't have people using them on websites
Can somebody tell me why... There is not even a mention of the blog in this thread...and the blog that is in my "Recent Blog:" feature is brand new started after this thread...Check the date anonymous idiot...
