Hi, I'm just starting exploring blogs and it looks like a good idea promoting your website and increase link popularity through blogs. Do you think blogs help in link popularity and search engines actually count the links from blogs? Another question, I've noticed some of my competitors have blog wide links (in links sections), how do they manage to get bloggers post a permanent link to their websites? Thanks

Yes, of course it count. But if you want them to increase your serp/pr then remember to optimize it with a quality keyword anchor text, and don't waste your time in No-Follow ones.
