Simple SEO methods to get SE traffic is a good way I generate traffic. Generally it allows my blogs to grow in popularity amongst the Bsphere because others start linking in.
Comment on the blogs in your niche. By commenting I mean posting comments which adds to the topic, not the stuff like thanks and great post.

A quick way you can build your blog awareness is by posting comments on other blogs and discussion forums. You should look to comment on blogs and forums focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in visiting your blog. Subscribe the relevant blogs to your RSS reader and join the forums. Follow what is going on, what is the discussion about and post a comment if you can contribute with something useful. That should bring you some visitors and links.
