The logo is not bad, but I don't like the banner.

Thank you all for your effort. Here's my feedback:

    • When we post a competition for logo and/or banner design, we normally don't know what we want and are really looking for you to come up with something that will impress us.
    • To ask for feedback is fine, but there's just so much feedback we can give. If we knew what we wanted, we wouldn't be paying you in the first place. We only know what we don't want, let's say.
    • Asking for feedback can only go so far.
This competition has been up for a few days, but we haven't seen any designs that we would like to use.

    This competition is now closed.

This is why I rarely do contest. DP should require some type of "no flake" deposit before people post these.

If you don't feel like giving comprehensive feedback then don't hold a contest. I'm not asking you to be the creative juice (obviously) but it is your responsibility to give feedback with some sort of direction and to give the contestants a reasonable amount of time to incorporate that feedback.

Dude, you just got like 20 hours of free labor. I know my hour+ alone is worth at least $50 bucks. Who are you to not honor our labor with the feedback and time required for just one of us to actually earn something?

    I feel completely disrespected.

If your design falls short of meeting our expectations and if we won't use your design, why should you get paid? It's part of the competitive process of doing business on your own. You're not an employee here. You're a freelancer.

We put out this contest with the hope of having a logo and banner designed. None of the submissions met our expectations. What would you want us to do? If you cannot create a design that meets the mark, just blame yourself and don't insinuate things.

You want feedback. To be honest, the only feedback I can really give is I like it or not. I tried to be as diplomatic about it, but the reason why we put out this contest is actually for you to impress us with a design that stands out. Had we had an idea as to what we wanted, we would not have posted this contest.

What I hate the most is throwing money away to people who think they are "entitled" to it. You want sure money, go get a job. You want to be in business on your own, deliver something good and business will thrive.

And, in reference to your private message, we are not "fishing" for ideas. We actually wasted our time too trying to get this contest going.

"the only feedback I can really give is I like it or not" does not cut it and is unfair to the contestants. Obviously we are not all getting paid, its a contest, but one of us should.

I don't feel individually entitled but the collective of designers that entered are. No one expects to be picked for sure but we all expect a fair chance. Duh.

Eric007 i supposed you are not new to Dp you are looking like a experience person n buyer on Dp i hope outside dp also but when you say "To ask for feedback is fine, but there's just so much feedback we can give. If we knew what we wanted, we wouldn't be paying you in the first place. We only know what we don't want, let's say."

May be our design falls short to meet your requirement but for that you have to feedback
I just say if you don't know what you want how can you get the things that you want or how can we know what you want if you don't know what you want.

Asking for feedback can only go so far i totally agree with you but friend the postive thing is that you get so much option to choose may be some of them click you and get you want you want.

I don't want to mention this but have a look at this contest.
see how much feedback is their and how much design the contest holder get.

    GOD BLESS YOU

    Best of luck

    Thanks!

Salah, I'm with you on this one. Why in the world would you NOT want to give comprehensive feedback on something YOU NEED for your site.. its just beyond me. We are not mind readers we need to know what the contest holder likes... I've seen this happen on many posts. They assume because we are designers we can make something they love instantly. I've made many impressive logos / banners/ websites but they were only impressive by my standards and obviously not the contests holder's. People have different tastes and opinions, we can't cater to everyone. I've seen so many amateur logos win contests with some big NO NO's in logo design yet, those that did win had some feedback. Its hit or miss most of the time unless the contest holder provides some thorough feedback. Eric shame on you, you should be banned INSTANTLY for this kind of behavior!!!

I've hired many people on DP, the money is not the problem, but I hate having to pay whiners.
