Which is the best method of linking in blogs: simply adding your url against your name or creating a link inside the comment section?
Cool. I've been trying both methods. Successful linking inside the comment seems a good way to go as long as the webmaster approves the comment - all part of the game I suppose
The more the better ! but for some reason i just don't like advertising inside the comment ... The blog coment just isn't a link exchange and unels my site is strictly related to that subject i don't post a link in the comment section ! I bet google likes to see your URL in both places but hey ! have some common sense ! Just my opinion
Yeah, did a fair bit thinking about that in the past and I've only been posting links inside comments that are related to my website.
As a blog owner I can say that people who try to use my comments section as advertising space tick me off and I usually delete their comments. Maybe that makes me a jerk but it's my blog, not the classifieds section of a newspaper!
On a related note, I wanted to pose a brief question to you all: Does anyone know if posting links in nofollow blog comments has any affect on SERPs? Here is what I can glean from reading threads here and on SEOchat: 1) nofollow is strictly a tag which tells a search engine to ignore the page, so theoretically, there should be no effect on SERPs. 2) Obviously, its a nice way to get some conversions from people who are reading the blog comments anyways, but personally, I'm not sure how effective this is in terms of time/benefit? I have to imagine there are only a couple of blogs that get enough traffic to merit a large amount of people looking at the comments, and if you spend more than 15 mins looking for/reading/commenting on a blog, it very well might not be worth it. 3) I've heard that it can increase the rate at which spiders crawl your site. I have no idea if this is true or not. Frankly, it seems like it wouldn't at all, but still, thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks in advance for the replies from the more senior SEO members =). And, if you thought this was insightful in any way, I'd appreciate a rep boost - just joined this forum and am attempting to ask the "right" questions since I don't feel comfortable answering questions myself yet. Thanks!
