Hey guys. I'm new to the forum so, first of all, hi. I'm working on a website for a small restaurant that wants to integrate a blog into it existing website. I designed the site so I have all of that information but I don't have much experience with blogs. I developed the site with a little bootstrap help but mostly just raw HTML & CSS. I know I could easily just make up a wordpress blog (which as much as I'm not really a fan of wordpress seems to be the most viable option at this point) but, I would really love to go a different direction. The only thing I want to make sure of is that styling remains consistent so that it fits in seamlessly. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you post a link so we can see what you have it will be more likely that we can give you advice of some value.
fitting seamlessly will likely take adjustment of both what you add and what already have, unless you want to just write your own. However you don't want to continue dow the road you are going if you want search traffic. You have almost nothing but graphic and pictures. With just about no content above the fold. Search engine crawlers are blind. In any case, you can probably use one of the products listed here: http://mashable.com/2014/05/09/16-minimalist-blogging-platforms/ A blog will get some real content on the site, so you probably need to concentrate on getting that going if you want action from the web.
Nice design! but you might want to make sure it fits on different screen sizes and resolutions. I use a 19 inch monitor with over 1280px resolution and I had to scroll horizontally. About the blog, use wordpress. In the themes folder, you can easily replace the header graphic and some css settings to change the colors to match it with your current design. That will be the easiest choice for you. Take care
Thanks for the input. Can you post a screen shot of the side scrolling though? I designed it to be responsive so I'd like to know where I went wrong.
It seems like maybe you're disabling the css because that doesn't look like the intended style at all.
