I found a new subject I want to blog about, but I would need to use images of the products I'm writing about. So, my question is, is copyright an issue for bloggers? Is there any legit way around this?
Yes i think there is any issue because it also get know by Google, the image should be yours means you have to buy. It can be a issue in future. So try to avoid. thx
Some product images are fair game because they are distributed freely to promote the product. If you are an affiliate of the seller, or a reseller, there are usually images provided that are also fair game if used in context. You could also check the manufacturers website, many times there is a press section with images that you can download for use. If not, you can simply email them and ask for the press pack for the product. You cannot just take images from the site if they are not designated for you to use.
Not true. Many times the source is mentioned because that is the agreement from the copyright holder to use the image. I use images like that all the time, but I have gotten permission first. If you take an image from (for instance) Associated Press and use it on your blog, even if you quote the source, AP will come down on you like a bad storm. One of the places that I write has an agreement with AP to use their images, so we can use them no problem..they pay the licensing free, but if I were to use them anywhere else that I write, I would be in trouble. If that were true, then there would be no need for places like Getty Images to be in business if everyone could just quote the source and never pay for an image.
