I recently published my latest how to guide, "How To Create A Search Engine". Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I am interested in feedback on both my writing and the layout of my blog.

    Hey Mark,

I hope you'll forgive me for not reading the article from start to finish. I did some skimming and it seems very well-written. Clear instructions, lots of pictures for assistance, and the design makes it very readable too. Good work!

    Kind regards.

Honestly, creating (another) search engine is completely pointless as google, yahoo, and bing own the market.

    But, nice tutorial!

True, but I think it was an interesting thing to figure out when I was getting started with PHP. I plan on writing a follow up which will go into more detail on how to automate the process. I guess what is the most fun is the spider part and parsing web pages where you can automatically go searching for anything you need. Its one way a bad spammer might collect email adresses for example :)
