I am setting up a blog on my storefront website. Im using a custom ecommerce hosting plan. They have a built in blog function but I don't really like the features it offers. (And I can't use wordpress on it). So my question is, is it better to just deal with the blog because it is onsite or go with a service like blogger and just link to it from my site? What are the advantages if each? Thanks

I would highly recommend using Wordpress, just don't set it up with your e-commerce section. I'm guessing you have the e-commerce store under the main domain (or www sub-domain), so why not set up wordpress under blog.yourwebsite.com? You can link to it from the main site and it would allow Google to see your blog and main site as 2 semi-separate websites.
