I was just browsing the forum and I kept reading about how much people are earning from blogs. It sounds an awful lot more than I earn from my fairly large niche website. So I was wondering, does anyone have a blog and a website and a forum, and which pays more?
I used to own a blog Sizwarez.com and i made 4000$ from it in 1 year My recent blog is at Sizlopedia.com
I own all 3 and do make more from the blog but it's only because it gets more traffic than the other sites, you can make good income from any sort of site provided you can get the traffic.
Usually blog can get better pr because of rss feed and the viewers will click on the google adsence ads if you are good in ads placement or tweaking. Forum is a different story where most of the time, the ctr is low.
Blogs and regular websites have the same earning capacity. It's how you make them sticky and useful for your visitors. But a forum on the other hand, does not generate that much clicks.
I think blog and website should be more or less the same. But for the forum, I think its harder to get those traffics. Anyway, I don't own any forum so I am also interested in whether forum's earning will be much more than blog or not.
Clicks and CPM are a lot lower on forums and I've found to decent make money off Adsense they need a lot of traffic. As an example I have a site that is full of articles with a supporting forum, the CPM on the forum is ~5% of what it is on the main site.
i think websites earn more money for you, but blogs maybe also... it depends on the place,color-contrast and so on, so you have to find a deal between this
I have ads on sites and forums. Cpm revenue is better on a forum than the site I have in the same category, depend on the placement, niche and format. 2 of my forums was making only $1 a months in years, in December I changed the code and the revenue is 5 times better with a less impressions.
Forum really has very low CTR, comparing to articles site. But I don't think blog is any different from forum; it's all long scroll of text.
it depends on the site itself and ad layout.....forums have lower ctr but their are other creative ways to monetize them
Why not all? A well put together site earns "trust" A great blog is easy to get backlinks A interesting forum will bring you tons of traffics. As for google Adsense, you might be told that it depend on your niche. I found it is easier to get a little high CTR with websites then blogs and forum. Hope it helps. Anne
As most people say I think forums suck for Adsense, blogs can be ok while websites are the best, particularly static HTM pages.
Many of my friends have blogs and they are earning more than what my web site earns via Adsense. It's true, the CTR is very low for forums. Although the day they hung Saddam Hussein, Yahoo sent thousands of people to my forum, and that was a good day for Adsense. So I guess you need a really high traffic forum in order to make a decent income for the site.
Both blogs and websites can get a high CTR. In the end it just depends on which one you can get more traffic to and what your strategy is.
Blogs and websites both make a lot. It all depends on the site layout and how well the ads are blended, but generally, I'd say a website gives the most. Haha @ whoever voted forum.
