I looked the other day and saw that all links were coded as go.php?id=xxx. Today I saw you are masking them to look like static URIs in the browser status bar so I checked the href in a server header checking tool and see you are using a 302.

That's not a good way to make friends.

 

that's the way indexu measures the access popularity of listed blog sites,
and determines what sites to list in "hot listings" section.

our directory is, as the name implies, for "finding blogs," which means
visitors actively search for specific blogs of their interest at our site,
and visit them.
why would the redirecting script matter?

if you are mainly interested in getting your site crawled,
feel free to look for other venues.

what i was saying is that whether to redirect or not would not matter
because the purpose of our site is to let visitors search for blogs
that they are interested in, and let them visit the sites.

I can't believe I didn't check this directory. I never submit to dirs with scripted links and certainly never to a 302.

i'm sorry, but your site is not a blog, but a forum.
our directory is for blog websites only.
i suggest you submit yours to other general directory.

I’m sorry, but that’s not the point. Directories are a dime a dozen. We see a great number of new directories come online every day. The majority have one purpose, to display AdSense. They get people to add their sites, and give nothing back in return. They offer little unique content and so they do poorly in SERPs which results in little or no traffic to the listed websites.

I for one consider these directories as nothing more than spam. Typically, these spam directories hoard PR by scripting outbound links. Another way is to prevent internal pages from being cached.

In this forum, if someone launches a new directory and if for some reason they use one or more of these techniques they normally issue a warning and an explanation. In that way I can decide whether it is worth my 60 seconds to submit.

If I fail to do my homework on a new directory, shame on me. But, without any words of caution from you, it feels like I’ve been deceived. I am not saying that your intention was deception. I am simply saying that by offering no explanation of your link design, I have no way of differentiating you from the typical spammer.

Hence, the reason for some of the emotional responses here, particularly mine.

 

i take that you are talking about *general* directory, not our blog directory.
i agree general directories are not as useful as google.
but as i already said, we are offering this directory to let visitors
conveniently navigate through listed blog sites, or search for them.
so i don't think your argument above applies to our blog directory.

i already mentioned later why redirecting is being used by indexu.

your blog is not with us now, so no more complaint.
