My recent post was copied from another website, I tried to find out if written content on my site is copyrighted automaticly?

But this person does state the source,

And my link appears, but would this be totally a bad thing to go after these guys, or do you think this may benefit us in some small way?

    Thanks,
    Nick

Well if it's the WHOLE article or post, then that's not good UNLESS you are allowing people to do that. If they just copy and pasted a few snippets from your article and gave a link back I believe that's legally allowed.

I suggest you write to them and complain, one time this guy copied the way I had structured a specific site word for word, I contacted him about it and he removed it. So a friendly warning might do the trick. Although it could also be those scraper sites that automatically copy content from your site, if that's the case I doubt the owner will even reply as he/she has a script that does that.

Well I would suggest that you better try posting it and checking it at copyscape.com

It will tell you whether if the content is copied or not.

Not always most professional article ripping scripts block copyscape.

The information written on your site is copyrighted automatically. Registration is only required if you want to enforce your rights in court.

Technically, they have to ask your permission before using your copyrighted material, whether they link to you or not. If you don't mind that they're using your material, then that's up to you. Is there a benefit to you chasing them? No, not really.

i think someone steal data from your rss feed directly using scripts . what you have to do

when ever you publish any data on your site then insert these words at the end of every post

" post published by " your blog url "

post the data on your blog

next day remove " post published by " your blog url " from your blog

if any one steal data automatically then your domain name is appeared on his blog too :)

if possible whenever you add image on your blog hyper link your images with your domain name , atleast you will the get link back and credits for your work.
