Its like asking, does guest blogging works? The answer is yes and no. If you are doing quality blog commenting, it will surely help you. These are the things you need to keep in mind.

    1. Never worry about nofollow/dofollow.
    2. Read the blog post and then post a relevant comment
    3. Engage with the audience.
    4. Never spam!

    That's it.

if you don`t spam and stay away from flagged website is working (don`t use automated software for comments) to get backlinks, if owners don`t have nofollow to comments.
    try guest blogging for backlinks.

No, it's not spamming. you should comment on niche blogs related to your business. there must be proper use of anchor text. do not use keywords in name column.

It is like with everything else - if you provide value with your comment it works and it is not spam. If you only do it to get a backlink and you're posting gibberish it might hurt you...
I use dropmylink.com to find the best relevant blogs to comment on and it gives me great results, you should try it.
    Good luck :)

Blog commenting is a wide spread practice that has been believed as a good way to gain backlinks, especially from Do-Follow websites. Many websites convert their comments section to increase the number of people commenting and visiting the site, this works well only when you have good Google page rank.

Finding a relevant blog and posting a comment is more like entering into a discussion. The additional benefits include – reaching new customers, developing a brand, and gathering valuable feedback.
Commenting on blogs can work as a dynamic tool which exchanges information, reviews, and opinions about the business and its offerings.

Blog owners love comments and discussions as far as they are not spamming the aura. Backlinks created by blog commenting are considered as most trusted and reliable backlinks. Trust me ! dont target blog commenting as a backlink generating process and be a part of discussion by delivering your best, and you'll get finest results.

If you are spamming, it never worked and it never will. However, most blog comments will bring you no follow links which are equally important as dofollow. So it does have some effect.

Blog comment spamming does indeed work but for certain instances. If you are spamming a site where you want the direct traffic then it works but I would not advise spamming links to your money site. Instead, do the research to find high pr, low obl, relative, blogs that will provide you with good backlinks. This is very hard to spam if you are doing it correctly, but then again you want to be careful about what and where you are posting.

No no no !!!! Sick and tired of filtering spam comments. Just please stop. People do it as a backlink method because it is easy and laziness too. But there are really a few who does it to drive traffic. People who comments to contribute, not just comments that are relevant to the topic.

sorry guys here i really need to some clarification: In what way does one comment distinguish as non spamming? If we put hyperlink to our sites in comment, but we really made an effort to comment genuinely based on context, is that being classified as spamming?

Blog comments are mostly flagged as spam because there are so many who abused it. But when you comment and add real value, the readers will classified you as an authority on the topic and if you have a link to your website, it will give you traffic. FOr your question, I think it won't be spam but do not make it as a main source for your link building. Just keep it to a minimum. Besides, real SEO don't do blog comments to rank your site.
