The more active you are in small online communities such as popular niche blogs, the greater recognition your name will start to get, with the end result being increased conversions
It still works but it is an well known technique. Because of that it is missuses by spammers. Leave relevant comments on a blog that caters to your sites niche. Of course you have to find a blog with a lot of traffic in order to make it worth your time.
I love the blog commenting strategy, pretty good effective as long as it is related to your niches. The good way to improve my keyword ranking. I am using several years in my campaign and seen good results from it.

Just find out the blogs of your subject. Search them, enter them, and make comments on various posts along with name of your blog or sight. If it is approved and published you get backlink for that. It is that simple.

I think blog commenting is still the best way to promoting our blog...beside it also will give our blog/website natural backlinks... but make sure you keep commenting on blog that related to your blog...I mean a blog within the same topics as your blog..... keep commenting on blog with high PR rank also good....but don't keep comments to much...because it is consider as spam...
blog commenting still has value from an SEO perspective. I don't think you can expect much traffic directly from it though.

Hey teohcl, So you've realized that blog commenting can be tricky. To make blog commenting work what you do is just go on the TOP blogs in your niche (the most ACTIVE ones) and be the FIRST to comment on a blog post, making sure your comment is valuable and contributes to the post. You have to be consistent and persistent in your commenting. And DON'T GIVE UP! Within a couple weeks, maybe even days (if the blog is really popular and active), you should have a decent number of subscribers on your list to market to or sales if you choose to drive your traffic straight to a sales page or squeeze page. Yeah i agree blog commenting is still useful but don't think generate traffic through blog commenting, commenting is mainly for back linking.
Blog commenting is an old but effective method. Specially if you know where to comment. High PR Sites, will help you not only with you own Rank, but also with the quality of people that look at your blogs. High PR Sites are not there just because of casualty they have earned that place with TRAFFIC. Not only crappy traffic but quality traffic, people that are following that site either throug RSS or Feed, and the same could happen to you. You have to select the blog you post to carefully, and make sure that your comment adds value, otherwise it is never posted, and is a waste of your time
