I am trying to increase page rank and drive traffic to my site. Blog commenting I heard can be effective in accomplishing this. I have several questions. 1st Does it matter what type of blogs I comment in or should they be in my industry ( Window Treatments ). I was going to comment in blogs in that area but felt like why would those webmasters want a competitor posting in their blog ? 2nd Are their any dos and don't when posting? 3rd Is it ok to leave my URL at the end of the post or is there a better to do leave a link ?
yes and no. you may get some seo boost, but you may also leave a footprint which google will penalize. yes, never post a link from a site that doesn't create value to the discussion. you'll probably just have your comment deleted. Google is NOT ranking sites just because of links. Ranking is complex and constantly changing. Google is tracking behaviors. So you could place a thousand comments and realize no material gain in traffic. marketing is about people and behaviors not mechanics. Think about how you can add value to the visitors experience. I blog comment from time to time while I'm researching, but I only comment for the actual traffic, SEO is a side benefit if it comes. People are so worried about SEO when they should be worried about real people.
1. you can comment as you like. But the related niche is better for your site. There is no "competitor" for blogging, just to share ideas through different blogs. If you find the blogs are useful, then you can have your comment. 2.When posting comments, treat it as your own blog. Do not just put some links there, it will ends up delected by the master. 3. Do not leave any URL in the comments, that is not that welcomed by the master. There are places to add your URL, for example, you may have to log in to comment on some blogs, so you can leave your URL when registering.
You can comment on any sites with a link back to your site. But if you comment on niche related sites then your SERP rank will increase
And please... please.. please... do not leave the "Great Post, I will be back" generic comment or something of the like. If you are going to comment, READ THE POST, and then leave an intelligent, well thought out opinion or response to the topic being addressed.
To find related blogs just use Google Blog Search. Or sign up for Google Alert-very simple and handy!
Blog commenting is rather helpful. I have increased PR up to 5 commenting on high alexa ranked sites.
