Blog commenting whats the deal?

Im looking to get more links to my site so ive been writing articles and submiting them with anchor text but I want to add to that by doing some quality blog commenting and I have a couple questions.

First off how do I find blogs that give me link credit " do follow " and when commenting on these do I include the link in the comment I make with html to put my anchor link in.

Or do I make my name the the phrase I want and include my link there. I notice on blogs you can include your name and link and then your name becomes the anchor for you website.

Anyways hope this isn't too confusing.

    thanks,

    - Trevor

People have been using their keywords as their name/anchor text but not many blog owners appreciate such stuff. In the link space, you need to put the url of the page for which you intend to create a backlink....
Commenting done with a purpose to appreciate the post or furthering the discussion are generally well approved.

As regards finding do-follow blogs, one needs to do the search for them sparing little bit of time. I have heard of various tools doing the same but have never tested one...so far.

Blog commenting is one of the best and fastest ways to get backlinks!
You can find do-follow blogs by using firefox and setting it to detect no-follow links.

Thank you Kinkyjoe; I'm a fan of IE. Should try firefox instead. Any guide on how to set it to detect no-follow links? Otherwise I have to surf into its source codes.

And RightMan. I've tested various tools, actually do-follow directories, & I must say that I always bumped into no-follow blogs. They do link me to several do-follow blogs though.

The best method is to do backlink analysis of similar (competitor) websites like yours. Choose similar websites which have better PR and do backlink analysis. I'm using link analysis tool of http://www.webmasterlogs.com/. Visit blogs where your competitors went. And leave quality comments. Believe me, this is better.

Thanks for the replys so far. Can anyone clear up the anchor text question. I want to leave a link with anchor text but can I do that in the body of the message or does it have to be the designated link box and being kind of shady changing your name to the desired anchor text phrase?

Dofollow blog commenting and forum posting with signature are best ways to get many related backlinks, But you have do research to find relevant links. So you must do some practice in this area to get success from one way link building.

I believe that it is wrong way to consider such links as constant ones. If they are not relevant they will be removed from the comments no doubts.

Most high pageranking blogs are NoFollow. You should comment in them anyway to get noticed. I commented in problogger.net, and then few days later the author quoted my comment in one of his new post, which he linked to my site as a DoFollow backlink.
