I'm experimenting with blog commenting, mostly with no positive impact. I've experimented with some blog commenting but don't think I get the basic procedural concept. I get the idea of avoiding nofollows to ensure the link counts and getting traffic from a well placed (or lucky) comment on any blog regardless of nofollow setting. I also get the idea of relevancy and am using commenting software. If somebody could post the basic things they do as guidelines I think it would help me a lot. I'm just completely ineffective and inefficient.
How to get backlinks from forums and blogs and not be labeled as a spammer The thread above gives my take on the matter. As for how effective it is can really be up to you. The more popular the blog, the better chances of being seen...however, the more popular the blog the more people tend to scroll past links, so it's really a catch 22. Shoot for moderately popular sites and you may have a better chance. Find those up & coming blogs that will reach the top, get on the good side of the blogger, and maybe, just maybe you'll find they talk about you on their own Though, I do find that most of the time, getting blog comment links is about traffic and recognition rather then any type of ranking system. So with that, I tend to ignore nofollow.
a few weeks back. i posted on 15 blogs, 12-13 where in my niche. I found out yesterday only 4 got accepted. I check to see if my site was in the blog and it wasnt. To me it was a great comment I posted relevant information. Meanwhile i found a few who posted after that date I posted saying good post and had nothing to do with the niche.
