Guys, when it comes to comment posting, I am of the opinion that this is one of the best ways of obtaining one way back links to your site as I have had quite a bit of success with this recently. I do have a question though. Some bloggers will moderate your comment out if in place of the name you put anchor text, i.e. instead of Joe Bloggs you put 'Designer Sunglasses', no matter how relevant your comment is to the topic/article posted. Some bloggers though, are more than happy to leave the anchor text in, as long as the comment appears to be relevant or adds 'value' to the said page. Now, if you were to use 'Joe Bloggs' as the anchor text (obviously still pointing to whatever url you want to promote), what effect will this have with say, google (or another search engine, for that matter)? Will you still benefit because of the url or will the benefits be lessened because you haven't used relevant anchor text? Hope this makes sense By the way, the title should read 'blog comment anchor TEXT'
Well if the Anchor text isn't related to your website, then it won't be much use to you. If its a personal blog and the anchor text is Joe Bloggs, that would be fine. It doesn't mean the link is useless, it just isn't as good.
Do comment with the anchor containing the keyword, if that is related blog to your content, If content of blog is not related to your business than it's advisable to use your only first name.
Thanks guys. I was kind of thinking along the lines of what AustralianFranchises has said, so it has more or less confirmed it for me
Blog comments are not that great actually. If you pay attention you will notice most of the blogs has NoFollow on comments. Blog comments are good for bringing targeted traffic (if you comment on blogs in your niche).
Yes, but are ALL blog comments not classed as a backlink (eventually) thus helping you in the SERP's?
You can always use something like "Joe Blogger Loves Designer Sunglasses" or something to that effect that doesn't only contain your anchor text. It's pretty hard to do it if you are targetting that type of keyword. An easier one would be "Joe Blogger - hairstylist" for hair related keywords.
I look and see what other's are allowed to do, and follow suit. If others are using their anchor text, then go for it. Another trick i've seen is "Johnny - Money Management" so you are using your name, and some anchor text. Each blogger will be different. Just look what others do and follow along.
Yes, I always check first and if other people are using anchor text I follow suit. It was in the case of no anchor text being used that I wasn't sure about. Maybe I'll just stick with my name for non-relevant blogs and use anchor text if others are doing so
