Blog as a subdomain

I am creating a blog as a subdomain of my website (www.site/blog/). I am trying to build links to the blog from other blogs. Will those incoming links help my main website rank higher or will they help the blog more?

    Thanks

Deep linking into your blog will also help your website become more of an authority, eventually helping rank over your whole website. site/blog is better than blog.site too ...

    A subdomain would be blog.site.com

and if you link to a subdomain and then in turn link to the main site...then yes backlinks will help!

Yes, if you get links to main page or inner page they all are going to be beneficial for your site. Think as a WHOLE site and not just for some sections.

It really can do no wrong getting the two to work together to bring you more traffic. Just keep up the good work

They can help your blog more, but all you need to do is to put a noticeable link (say, a banner) in your blog to your main site so you're main site will also have exposure.

I think this is a common strategy for those who are using pure flash websites.
