I don't get it when a blog has some good content and then has a optin on the side. What happens here,... are the visitors gona subscribe to get the same information as they get in the blog... i don't get it. Why have both. Why not just one?

Only reason for this i see is if the person don't feel like going to tyye blog and wouldn't mind just getting the SAme information through e-mail.

Maybe the only good thing i can pull out is just write e-mail and opint them to your blog sometimes here and there...

    i'm lost

A great strategy for getting someone to sign-up for a newsletter is to put "exclusive" information in the newsletter and post about it in alot of your blog posts.

For example: "If you liked these 7 great tips, make sure to check for my latest newsletter in your email inbox to get 3 more exclusive tips that I am only sending in the newsletter. If you haven't signed up for my newsletter yet, make sure you do so you don't miss out on exclusive information that I only send out in my newsletter."

Another excellent way of getting sign-ups is to offer a free guide/ebook related to the topic of your blog that can only be obtained by signing up for your newsletter.

You have to bribe them with a freebie that is complimentary to your blog posts.

So if you write about dog training for example, you could create a free video that teaches someone how to train a dog in under 30 minutes.

You could then present your freebie on your blog as:

'30 minutes is all it takes to train your dog how to sit, lay, and roll over. Get your free video below'

I would avoid any '7 day' freebies people use. You know the kind that will send you a tip every day for 7 days. Reason is by day 7 they will just consider you a spammer instead of a friend.

So give them a really good freebie up front(GOOD IS THE KEY WORD), then maybe once a week inform them of new blog posts you have. Work in your offers and a couple extra freebies along the way and you'll have a nice relationship built up with your list over time.
