Fellow members, There is this website called www.uncrate.com which I'm sure some of you have heard of. It talks about gear, media, cars for men. The way the website does that is write a small descriptive article on the product itself and link the site for it at the bottom with its price. I was wondering if they get paid for each post they write and if so how? Thanks
The webmaster is an affilaite. You click on that link, go to that particular store, but that or another product, and he gets a commish.
ok but if i wanna lets say have a site similar to that how do i have the companies contact me to post an article on their product. thanks
Like the other guy already said, it is an affiliate and the owner of that site doesn't get paid per post. He is paid on the sales that his affiliate program is is selling. If you want to get paid for each article then you must accept sponsored reviews.
You don't have to contact these online stores. Just write a piece about each product. This is a common method that has been done for years. But with this one, I took a closer look, and it is the online stores' write up. It's merely a feed provided for affiliates. You put their code in your HTML, and their products and description shows up on your page. If they change it, like, say, the picture, or they put in a different description, it automatically changes on your site too.
If your site developed into some super well know niche site you'd have people contacting you almost everyday. Now thats a big if but it can happen. I had someone email yesterday about one of my sites.
OK copper12 so your saying that I should just write about their products and they'll contact me? But if I were to put a code, from which web site do I take it. thanks
Okay, I think you are missing what I am saying here. Are you thinking that you will get paid to write up an article on their products? And tha you think that this webmaster is getting paid for doing that? If so, then, no. Okay, let's start over here, and let me repeat basically what I said earlier. The webmaster of that site is an affiliate. To find such online stores to sell their products, he may have gone to such Networks as CommisionJunction.com, LinkShare.com, or ShareaSale.com. They have a list of online stores that are looking for affiliates, salespeople. You sign up with these stores to be an affliliate. They give you a line of code, which is called data feed, so you can display their stuff (the pictures and descriptions of the products), and you are off and running, like the webmaster of that site has done. Like that first item there, which are the glasses: Description: That is the store's own words, their data feed. You can get the code from whichever store you want to be an affiliate for. Be it DrugStore, OverStock, Lands' End.... What he has there are the stores data feed of the pictures and descriptions. Many affiliates don't use feeds as they think they can sell a product better if they put in a better picture, and a more enticing description of the product. At first I thought that is what that webmaster was doing, but after looking at it again, it is a data feed. Well with the ones I looked at, anyway. He could be doing both.
