Blocking Traffic - Impact in Search

I am currently working on a new ecommerce store for a web site which will only sell to the UK market (due to supplier).

Google recently stated that web site speed was a consideration in their algorithm. I have implemented the obvious techniques to speed up the site, minification, GZIP, etc.

However I am also considering blocking all traffic from outside the UK, US and EU.

The reason being that there are a lot of bots which run from India, Pakistan, China, etc. If they were blocked from accessing the site, then my thinking is that the number of processes being used to deal with their requests would automatically be lower and thus improve performance.

As the site will never sell or service these areas there is no real reason from a customer perspective to allow access.

The concern I have though is that this may have an indirect negative impact on the search engines. Lets say someone based in India searches on Google.com and finds my site, they click it to view and get blocked so immediately go back to Google.

So the question is, do you think that this negative pattern of people hitting the site from Google and immediately bouncing back to Google would have a negative impact?
