First of all, I am sorry if this is the wrong category for this thread but I wasn't sure where to post this.

I keep getting pop-ups on my I.E. and Firefox and I know that this is Spyware. I have been following my firewall logs and I now have the following info:
    URL of the pop-up window
    IP Address of the Spyware

Is there any way I can block this Spyware by IP or URL?? Please help.

If you blocked the spyware by IP or URL you would still get the popup, except you would a Page Not Found error instead of whatever they are trying to show you.

    I recommend downloading the following:

    Ad-Aware SE Personal
    Spybot Search & Destroy
    HijackThis

Now upgrade Ad-aware and Spybot. Boot into safe mode(F8 or msconfig), run one, then run the other. Finish it off by running HijackThis and removing any left overs.

You can skip the HijackThis step if you aren't very technical savvy, it won't make too much of a difference. If you remove the wrong stuff using HiJackThis you could cause serious damage.

    Now restart and enjoy.

I have used AdAware and Spybot for years. Every computer should have these programs. They're simple and will resolve a lot of problems. You can't block by IP but you can clean out the junk as soon as you suspect spyware.

Let's not forget Spyware Blaster. Works quite well with SS&D!
