Hi i see people constantly talking about blocking certain urls ads from appearing in adsense. How do you know which ones to block? How do you figure out which ones are not performing well?

It's debatable really. Adsense claims to only display the highest paying ads, so blocking ads may actually cost you by not showing the top bidding advertisers. Personally, I think that's a line of chit.

What url's do you block? There are quite a few lists of low bidders flowing around out there. Whether it will really help though?? Not sure. I doubt you will ever be able to keep up with all the crap bidders really.

you can do it either manually by going all the ads appearing on your site.
Or, theres a tool called AdsBlackList.

I recently went through ads that were displaying on one of my niche sites and filtered the ones that were totally irrelevant.

Look at code of ad for url or use google tool to see url. If site has adsense ads clickbank or other serach engines i filter it. If ad has nothing to do with your sites topic filter it also.

thanks for the input guys maybe some testing has to be done on my part to see if earnings increase after some blocking. i have faith in my site since sometimes i get clicks worth .5 but about 99% of the time i get clicks worth only a penny or two each. i think testing will be the best approach.

I block poor quality ads, MFA ads, unfocused ads, smartpriced ads, and
    I block low-paying ads.
How do I know which ads are low paying? If I have been getting 30 cents a click for a long, long time, and now I am getting 9 cent clicks, I block ALL the ads. I just did it again today on one page.

I can do this because I just run ONE 250x250 ad block, which serves only 3 ads. I block all three ads. Isn't that throwing out the baby with the bath water? Yes. But you have to do it, if you don't want to be endlessly screwing around.

There are two possible outcomes -
    1. You suddenly get higher paying ads (many times), or
    2. You get even worse paying ads, in which case you change the ads on that page from Adsense to something else, such as YPN. You may not get paid as much, but at least you are not knowingly sucking canal water (being smartpriced).

Another test you can use - Does Google serve the same ads on the Google search page, that it serves to your page?
    1. If so, that is a good sign - Google regards you with some respect.
    2. If not, you may be getting the worst ads, which NEVER get served on the Google Search Network. On these pages, you need to try ads from elsewhere.

I often have 1 cent clicks, sometimes 0 cent ( invalid click ) and the most payed click was about 1.70 $... wish that all clicks are like that.

if it's true that Adsense pay less per click when your impressions increase?

I hear a story that one guy has earning a lot on adsense ( enough for a good life ) and when his site becames more popular with more visitors, the earning has fallen...

    Yes.
Almost every day, on SOME page, I will see 1 impression and one click for $1.50. This is "the tickler" rate to inspire you. It will never be as high on subsequent clicks. The second click might be 75 cents. The third click might be 37 cents. At the end of the day, you might have 100 clicks, for a total of $10. About 10 cents a click.

All benefits accrue to the advertiser, because they are paying the money. The more clicks, the less the advertiser pays. Great for advertisers, but terrible for publishers. This is the socalled "smartpricing".

One would think that higher performance by the publisher would result in higher payout. It does not. It results in less, since the publisher has nothing to bargain with. Your only options are to filter the ads, or use ads from another provider. The problem is, that there is no other provider worth beans. So we publishers are stuck with what we get. I hold ZERO hope that MSN or YPN will EVER get it together. They just don't know what to do.

That might be the reason why my earning is so low... i have a lot of channels and blogs with impressions but not click and daily i have about 2000 impressions ( maybe less )... impressions come from 5-8 channels but clicks only from 1-3...
