I'm just curious. If lets say you block low paying ads, you will see no ads more likely in steed of high paying ads? :D

I don't think google will show high paying ads, just because you blocked all low paying ads. I think google will show public service ads, so it means you will get 0 in steed of getting at least some money. Maybe i'm wrong, but maybe i'm not.

I agree completely, google wants to show you the highest paying ads they can, because the more money you make the more they make. Blocking random sites you think pay low is a terrible idea, I bet your income will reflect that.

Shouldn't the tool be used to only block competitors ads? IE- if you sell books online, you don't want to display ads from Borders etc..

Doesn't google automatically show the highest price ads it can? IE- the adwords publishers have to compete to get good placement by paying more?

Not exactly the highest price for an ad. It's not ordered by CPC only, but by a mix of CPC and CTR so it's eCPM. That's why you can have very low earnings per clicks, but that ad has high CTR, so if it displays often on your site you'll have a lot of clicks, more than for other ads. And finally for 1,000 ad impressions, you can get more money than if you had a few clicks but highly paid.
BTW I don't use competitive filter, I have no competition (as well as no boss and no customers) that's good. :)

I'd been wondering about whether this is really a good idea, if at all it works even.

I've never actively used Ad Filter before, so I can't speak much from experience here; however, I would be extremely cautious when it comes to blocking ads (if I were going to do any blocking at all). The reason being is that there's no such thing as a "completely automated" adsense account. There is quite a bit of human management that comes into play when dealing with adsense, and if they notice that you're suddenly blocking dozens of different sites for no apparent reason other than to get higher-paying impressions, they may not take kindly to that. I'm sure ad-blocking could play some useful role in your overall ad management, but with everything in this business, it should be used shrewdly and purposefully (not sloppily).

On another note, I don't see anywhere that the OP suggested blocking ALL of these sites. He's simply providing a list of lower-paying sites that could potentially help you in your ad management. I am somewhat curious about the validity of the list though.
