Block low paying ads?

I read something about blocking low paying urls in order to increase payout per click. How can one go about determining which urls pay the lowest and which pay the highest out of the ads that appear on your site. Also has anyone succesfully been able to do this, and hopefully it is not against google TOS?

I always block ebay ads as they are normally low paying and irrelevant to the site/page.

Blocking low paying ads solely to increase revenue is definatly a no-no. Blocking them to prevent your competetor from advertizing on your site is the only legit reason.

really? hmmm... what if you run a career site and are trying to block ads you don't endorse (e.g. paid surveys: make $200/hr, etc)?

I just blocked one advertiser from one of my sites because of the image ads that were being displayed. You could tell they had been designed for no one to ever click on them and were purely a branding tool. So that is another valid reason to block an advertiser :)

I was under the impression that ads displayed were the highest bidders for a keyword - so wouldn't blocking low paying ads just allow room for even lower paying ones? Or is the theory to remove all low paying ads so adsense reverts to a different keyword, therefore possibly introducing higher paying ads into the mix? I wont mess with it - what if an advertiser decides to raise their bid but you've blocked them, you might start missing out.

In my situation with those "branding only" image ads, it does not matter if the advertiser is the highest bidder because their ads will never get clicked anyway :)..so out the door they go! :)
