Blacklisted on SORBS (hence no Google indexing)

    Dear all web gurus here,

I have a problem with one of my domain, which until recently, I found out was blacklisted on SORBS for "spamming". Honestly I do not know what it means. Was it because of the hosting provider that I choose?

This explains why my website never got indexed by Google. Been trying to figure out why. I've written to SORBS, waiting for their response. Also wrote to hosting provider 9esolution.com but they never answer (perhaps they are too aware of this "spamming" problem?)

I seek anyone's help here who has had experience in dealing with the blacklist and how to get delisted.

I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but it looks like it could be a /24 or a /16 spam block.

Sorry, but I'm not allowed to link yet.

This means that you, in all likelihood, aren't the problem as you said. It's the IP block in general that's banned, probably because there are a number of spammers on the block.

Interland, among other hosts, is notorious for this sort of thing.

This probably won't affect your SEO efforts, but I would move your site off of their server ASAP. If you don't, you'll probably find some of your emails getting bounced back to you by recipients that use one of the spam lists to filter.

It's one of the problems with IP range-based spam blocking: most of the people who get burnt by it are innocent, but it's a necessary evil.

If you want a clean host, try Sectorlink (sectorlink.com). They don't allow that crap and are one of the few straight-up outfits left in the hosting biz. I've got a dedicated box with them and I've had it now for over two years, and I've also been with them almost 4 now. (In Adam's Hosting Years, that's 48 years.)

    Good luck to you, buddy.

    AWD1, thanks for your input!

To clarify, it is affecting my SEO effort because Google never index my page since I launched the site in Oct-2005. I'm only getting traffic from MSN and a little from Yahoo. For more info see this link: http://www.google.com.my/search?hl=en&q=www.swiss-travel.org&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

SORBS people emailed me saying that "domain is no problem, but IP address is" - which I can't really understand. Does that mean if I change my hosting server, the IP address that points to my swiss-travel.org domain will also change to something which is not blacklisted?

Google doesn't give a crap about SORBS or any blocklist that I know of. They have their own algorithm for detecting sites meant to spam their serps. Your site is only a couple months ond and it's not unheard of your situation. Just do your best.

    labrocca,
My other sites got indexed within a few days and already got PR prediction. Except this one. What you are saying is something that I have heard before (thanks though).

I went the extra mile to investigate and found out about the blacklist. NONE of my other sites get similar blacklist hence they are getting good indexing from Google. And it was clear that the hosting provider I used was spammy, only found out recently.

    Dear all,

I changed my website's IP address that is clear from blacklist, but it still not being indexed by Google. Hence, I decided to transfer the site into a new domain and hopefully be freshly crawled by Googlebot and the rest.

AWD1, http://www.travelswiss.info had just came online last night, so I expect a few more days before proper indexing will give results.

Anyway, what is DNS issue? Let me know.
