Blackhatworld.com defaced .....huh!

I am not sure if this kind of message is allowed to be posted on DP.

I just saw the Blackhatworld.com has been defaced by rUnViRuS & ProViDoR.
The site was working fine a couple of hours back .Had a dinner break ..and then i saw this .

Wonder what kind of security flaw was there.

They were running on VB 3.7 Beta ..and i have seen a couple more of VB boards being defaced on VB 3.7 beta. Not sure if there is some kind of security loophole on this beta version. I personally would never install a beta version on such a big active board.

i would contact Vbulletin about this, obviously a serious issue with the Beta security.

 

Why running a big board with beta release of vBulletin?

who would do such a thing? you don't poop in your own backyard.

 

What is that plugin they want you to download?

yeh they had been hacked few days back but they had got it fixed then.

 

Yeah twice in 4 days.

It seems they are working on it now ...I'm getting DB error while accesing the website.

Good ...atleast they removed the defaced Index Page.

 

Thats stupid, I don't even put betas on my 1 member forum.

I think the attackers broke in via their Proxy Topsite page which resides on the same server as their forum

 

That site seems to be down again.

A bunch of cheaters over there.....good for them
