So if I'm running a site completely whitehat, how can I top a site that is going blackhat and is actually using very very minimal whitehat seo? I mean, I have a result in the top 10 way more qualified than the first result and yet it's not the first result. (My domains age is a year and has the KEYWORD as the domain!) Having spoken to the owner of the first result he did say that he was using a mixture of whitehat and blackhat and yet he has done very minimal in terms of whitehat. His backlinks are under 100, many of them from youtube. My site has nearly 500 backlinks from all sorts of different sites. Many with high page rank and relevant anchor text. I've done everything, if not more, in terms of onsite SEO that he's done and yet my site isn't overtaking his. I'm guessing he's doing some cloaking, some 302 redirects, and possibly some scrapping. How can I figure out if any of the following is being done and if something is being done, what can I do about it?
I went into my google account today and looked for something that might allow you to report. Couldn't find it. Does anybody know if there is a way to confirm that they are using a cloaking type tactic? Also, is google mad if I report a suspected person?
Argh, Google moved the report link. Hang on, I'll hunt it down for you. There are several ways to find cloaking; some include checking the Google cache, looking for stuffed keywords that are "hidden" in the HTML source code (CSS dropdown menus don't count), and so on. And no, Google won't get mad. At most, they'll just ignore you (but I've yet to hear of them doing that).
Instead of wasting your energy to pull them down, I would suggest you continue with your whitehat method. Sooner or later, blackhat will get caught and removed from the system on its own. Thx
It's just I feel like all this work is getting me nowhere. A link removed could help me a lot. I'll check the cache as I've been in and out of the source and have seen nothing that looked "stuffed", at least, if I know what I'm looking for.
