I took two mintues to look it over and he shows her where she went from keyword stuffing (filter) to hidden text and doorway pages (both earn penalties)

Many sites still have meta tags stuffed and still rank well for popular keyword terms.

Ergo a filter is applied for this not a penalty.

Keyword stuffing and hidden text is more spam than black hat

she got nailed though for black hat doorway pages

You can get banned for keyword stuffing and hidden text. There is another matt cutts dealt with another example of hidden text witch resulted in a ban. Take a look at the Google spam form – it mentions Hidden text on the Google spam report option.

    Take a look here http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/seo-mistakes-nearly-hidden-text/

Look through the responses at the bottom Matt responses with this ‘Fred, you didn’t mention a url, so I can’t really give you much advice. If a site is old but has spam (e.g. hidden text), it can be removed from Google. I’d take a fresh look at the site, make sure your server uptime is good, and do a reinclusion request as well. If you search for [matt cutts reinclusion request] you’ll find my post with advice.’

There is another post that I can’t find when he deal with hidden text in much more detail.

Logic tells you Matt Cutts is not going to help you rank higher.

Keyword stuffing isn't blackhat, it is dumb.

Pure link spam, on the other hand...

What is your definition of Black Hat?
I define it as anything that can get you banded.

unless you are really good at blackhat and can make a shitload in a few weeks, you aren't gonna make much. By the time oyu are at the top of the serps you'll get caught and banned, your competitors won't sink quietly.

Here is one way: using a proxy
The two most common purposes for proxies in the SEO industry are firstly to spoof (or fake) your country of origin, and secondly to get around various filters imposed on you by various websites.

I think black hat SEO can be used sometimes, but if you get greedy and overdue it you will be penelized surely.
